Why does applying scotch tape to frosted glass make it suddenly transparent?
Well, after consulting the comments at the end of the video, I finally learned the truth. (You probably didn't know this, but comments on YouTube videos are almost as reliable and unbiased as wikipedia entries for politicians and celebrities.)
Anyhow, after perusing several of the commenters' theories, including:
- The video was doctored
- It's a glitch in the Matrix
- It's from the heat from your finger
- He's a witch
I settled on this one, from a reddit posting on the same video:
"The surface of frosted glass is etched so that it scatters light when it hits this rough surface. The glue on the tape fills in any irregularities, letting the light pass through with much less scatterring (notice, the image is still not perfect)."

Whew! Now we can all sleep a little better tonight...

We can sleep better at night, as long as we're not counting on frosted glass to preserve our privacy!!!
